Presentation talk of slides Essays - Pseudoscience,

Presentation talk of slides What is Homeopathy Homeopathy is a pharmaceutical science. The remedies used are regulated by the FDA in the USA. Homeopathy was founded in the 18th century by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a physician and chemist. The ruling principle of homeopathy is the Law of Similars, which states, Let likes be cured by likes. Homeopathy is a holistic healthcare modality, which addresses acute, chronic and traumatic health problems. Principles of Classical Homeopathy Remedies should be proven on healthy subjects to determine their field of action on the mental, emotional and physical levels. The symptoms of the patient should be matched to a remedy that has produced similar symptoms in the provings, or experiments on healthy volunteers. One remedy should be prescribed at a time based on similarity to the patients symptoms. The smallest possible dose should be administered that will produce a healing response. The practitioner should endeavor to make the healing process as gentle as possible and to try to minimize aggravations. With centesimal scale remedies the remedy should only be repeated when symptoms that have improved begin to relapse. The practitioner should match the strength or potency of the remedy with the patients vital force, or the level on which their illness resides. The Source of the Remedies The remedies come from the animal, mineral, and plant kingdoms. They are also made from bacteria and viruses, or disease products. Some remedies are made from imponderables, such as sunlight, moonlight and x-rays. In recent years homeopaths have been studying the characteristics of remedies made from the different kingdoms to learn about their properties, and to understand how to apply them to sick people in a more scientific manner. An understanding of chemistry, biology, zoology and botany are advantageous to the homeopath and intertwined with homeopathy as the natural world is the source of our remedies Remedies from the Animal and Mineral Kingdom On your left is a picture of the surucucu snake or Lachesis muta, one of the greatest additions to our materia medica. Poverty and Welfare essays

Poverty and Welfare essays Poverty has plagued mankind throughout history, yielding various justifications for its existence along the way. One of these arguments is that poverty is simply a structural flaw created by the market system of capitalism. As a response to poverty in the capitalist society, welfare programs were created and executed for the first time. And though many of these programs exhibit disappointing outcomes and have proven to be susceptible to abuse, welfare programs as a whole have helped to improve the individual liberties of lower class individuals. Indeed, it is the duty of a democratic government to create equality of opportunity for its citizens, and to avoid the equality of outcome so feared by conservatives and critics of liberal welfare reforms. Since racial discrimination has in the past played a large role in perpetuating poverty, government involvement is necessary to put racial minorities in the same socioeconomic level as the majority. In America, African Americans had been fiercely segregated and enslaved for hundreds of years, robbing them of property and even liberty enjoyed by Caucasian Americans. As a result of this discrimination, African Americans emerged poorer than the average white citizens, even after the Civil Rights Movement Legislation of 1950s. In response, various social institutions and public assistance bureaus were created to reduce the difference in economic status (Pivan and Cloward, p128). Sadly, because of individual and structural discrimination that remained in American society, most blacks, who moved to areas like as Chicago, New York, Los Angles, Baltimore, Newark, and Philadelphia during the Great Migration never found new employment (Pivan and Cloward, p 128). Moreover, African Americans who had jobs during the recession of the 1960s There is a lack of sympathy among conservatives. Murray notes, "Because it was eas...

Data Privacy in Electronic Health Records System Essay

Data Privacy in Electronic Health Records System - Essay Example The data stored in the system are accurate and updated on regular basis and require data banks for that process. Patient’s state is captured, and his/her medical history can be retrieved at ease when needed by the medical personnel despite the density of the data at their end user. In that case, privacy and confidentiality become an issue (Fetter 409). The confidentiality is at risk because information may easily get into the third party who gets access to the network and hospital system. The information in the system can only be modified using one modifiable file this ensures data is correct and precise. On patients with long-term illness, their medical history can be retrieved, and his/her development studied for precise treatment depending on the development. Hacking and malicious intentions are the prominent problems. The systems can be hacked and patients medical information was stolen and used for unscrupulous deeds (Amatayakul and Amatayakul 45). Clinicians may also carelessly place their tablets or computers at insecure places where they can be stolen and patient’s information can be accessed disclosing the patient’s condition, which is always private and confidential, between the patient and clinician no third parties involved. In case of virus invasion on the system, all data may be lost leaving no records of patients especially the medical history, which is much far important as patient’s well-being is concerned. Illegal access to the system may cause more damage to patients since patients medical information can be exaggerated even changed leading to a wrong diagnosis and eventually wrong medications to patients. To curb the vice, the infrastructure platform should be supported by software designs with functionalities that prevent and avert the menace.

Human Resource Paper - Assignment Example A health care organization must have objectives that guide them in their line of duty. Some of these objectives are strategic and have implications on the human resource management. These objectives are; to promote health and impart health education, to immerse in disease inspection and analysis and to collaborate with governments and administrations around the world to promote health promotional programs. These three objectives have implications on human resource management. Human resource management is concerned with the safety and compensation of manpower among other things. When the objectives of a health care regarding promoting of health and imparting, disease inspection and analysis have been attained, then the expenses incurred by the human resource management to make sure that the staff members are safe are cut down and therefore there will be no expenses on compensation brought about by poor health care. This is because with good health and proper health education then case s of disease and infections are cut down. Health problems cost an organization a lot. Disease inspection and analysis will help in the understanding of the causes and the possible treatments that are to be administered to various diseases and infections. A Guide to the Civil Wars of RTS Gaming Essay -- War Video Computer Ga

A Guide to the Civil Wars of RTS Gaming The real-time strategy gaming genre is filled with enthusiasts who both pursue and embody the focus of their obsession: war. Fundamentally different approaches to programming a real-time strategy game have led to two very different groups of gamers, each believing that their games are more fun and/or more realistic. I shall distinguish these two groups by the game series that they champion: the partisans of Westwood and the Command and Conquer series, and the disciples of Blizzard, they of the 'Crafts (Warcraft and Starcraft). Although confusing to the uninitiated, the war of the war gamers can be broken up into several major points, or theaters, thusly: construction, resources, and units. I shall address each of the points and their sub-headings in turn. But first, a little background on war games in general and real-time strategy in particular. After all, as Sun Tzu said, â€Å"Know thy enemy and know thyself; in a hundred battles you will never be in peril.† War gaming is a hobby in which the players re-create old battles or make new ones, honing their martial abilities on fictional battlefields. An outgrowth of the training of officers and leaders in ancient times for command of flesh-and-blood troops, war-gaming has probably been around for about as long as war. As such, the number of possible ways to simulate a war are myriad, from the low-tech Chess or Risk to the recent computer game Command and Conquer: Generals. Real-time strategy games, or RTS games, are one of the many benefits of using computers for one's war-gaming needs. There is no stuttering progression of the fight with, â€Å"I'll hit you... ok, now you hit me back,† that limit the reality of turn-based games; one player... ... as a heavy engineering company in the US Army might do (albeit faster and with fewer people), yet the number of unit functions is kept so simple that a few memorized (or re-assigned) hotkeys can make the interface nearly as quick as the older C&C games; supply planes zoom over the drop zones to send the Americans more material while Chinese infantry seize an oil derrick for the steady flow of oil (and funds) that it provides. With this trend toward meshing the two styles, there may one day be peace between the two factions. While I personally prefer the urgent speed of the Command and Conquer style, I think anyone could agree that Blizzard has some good points as well. So, I welcome our newfound brothers and former enemies of the Warcraft forces... except for you guys, you dirty, stinking Mac users! (So much for peace. Oh well, I guess some things never change).
